Joes Fall Short in Seven, Drop Series to Copperheads

Following an encouraging win on Wednesday night to even the series, the Joes returned to action looking to take the rubber match on Thursday night against the Southern Ohio Copperheads.
For the fifth time in six games to start the season, the Joes got on the board in the first inning with a Jackson Wang RBI single to put Hamilton up 1-0. Unfortunately for the Joes, it was all Copperheads from that point forward.
Southern Ohio was led by dominant starting pitcher Luke Bryant, who allowed just the one earned run on a single hit while striking out seven. The Copperheads also took advantage of 11 walks issued by the Joes’ pitching staff, the last of which drove in the game-ending run, sealing the 11-1 victory.
One bright spot for the Joes was pitcher Carson Brower, who came in for relief and threw three innings, giving up just one unearned run and struck out four. Brower now holds an impressive 1.42 era on the season.
The Joes will look to rebound this weekend with a home series against the Michigan Monarchs. First pitch for game one is set for 7:05 PM on Friday, June 13th at Foundation Field.
