Joes Back on Track, Pick Up 5-2 Win Over Clippers

By Eli Halverson | June 25, 2025

Following a disappointing series defeat at the hands of the Flag City Sluggers, the Joes hit the road for a series against the Muskegon Clippers.

As usual, the Joes jumped out to a fast start at the plate. After an early single and a walk, Miguel Correa smoked an RBI single to left field to give the Joes an early 1–0 lead. Correa had a great day at the plate and continues to stay hot—over his last five games, he’s hitting .348 with six RBIs.

In the third, Jaxson Christ ripped a double to lead off the inning, and a pair of wild pitches brought him around to score the second run of the game. Christ has looked like a league All-Star all season, leading the team with a .387 batting average.

After a couple of Clippers runs tied the game, Correa came through once again with another RBI single, scoring Christ and giving the Joes the lead right back. A Jordan Malott double and a key Clippers error added insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, sealing a 5–2 win for Hamilton.

The story of the night, however, was the Joes’ pitching. Devyn Mullins got the start, throwing two innings and allowing two runs on two hits. Then, Marc Iozzo took over in relief. Known more for his work at the plate, Iozzo stepped onto the mound and delivered a brilliant performance—5.2 shutout innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six.  A stellar performance and one that is huge for Hamilton, as they may have just found another stud arm in the bullpen.  Carson Brower, a known stud in the bullpen, came in to shut the door and got the save, throwing 1.1 shutout innings and striking out two.

The Joes are back in action Wednesday for a doubleheader against the Clippers. Finishing off a series sweep would be huge and would give Hamilton plenty of momentum heading into a weekend matchup against South Division rival Xenia Scouts. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
